Our Investment Thesis
Berg Capital Group was incorporated to pool resources and invest in the local mid-Atlantic region amongst the defense and intelligence tech-focused entrepreneurial communities.
Our membership is almost exclusively made up of successful entrepreneurs who want to see others succeed and thrive.
Our first investment thesis involved investing in individual companies via convertible debt notes or equity positions. This required substantial time investment for our early stage investors, mentors, and angels. From 2014 through 2017, BCG heavily leveraged its networks and investors to ensure successful outcomes. However, the demand for this time outpaced our investor supply, and a new investment thesis needed to be developed.

Between 2017 and 2019, BCG members investigated and collectively decided to refocus on the same early stage tech entrepreneurs through a different investment vehicle: Venture Funds. These funds had full-time fund managers to conduct thorough diligence, provide requisite support, and provide senior level introductions beyond what our membership could provide.
By 2020, BCG has transitioned to investing in only Seed & Series A Venture Funds run by well known, previously successful, and “pay-it-forward” groups backed by the best fund managers in the area. These include Jim Hunt, Doug Doan, Craig Cummings, Guy Filippelli, Kelly Perdew, Steve Smoot, Randy Beardsworth, and Dan Hanks amongst many others.
